Tomato "Grub’s Mystery Green".
This hardy and highly productive variety yields large, dark green, somewhat irregularly shaped oblate fruits weighing 200 to 300 g, with pronounced ribbing at the stem end. The flesh is tender, juicy, and beefsteak-like, boasting an absolutely superb flavor.
It is a relatively new variety, serendipitously «discovered» by David Lockwood in Australia in 2005 growing among «Paul Robeson» plants. The first generation had regular leaves, but subsequent generations stabilized with attractive potato-like foliage.
Maturity: mid-season.
Shape: oblate and ribbed.
Texture: meaty.
Growth type: indeterminate.
Plant height: 150–180 cm.
Fruit size: 5–10 cm in diameter.
Foliage: potato leaf.

Tomato Grub’s Mystery Green

Cultivation guide.
Tomatoes thrive in light, highly fertile soils. Sow seeds for seedlings in March at a depth of 2-3 cm (or about 60-65 days before planting out). Before sowing, it is advisable to treat the seeds in a mild potassium permanganate solution and rinse with clean water. Prick out the seedlings when they develop 1-2 true leaves. Feed the seedlings 2-3 times with a complete fertilizer during their growth. Begin hardening off the plants 7-10 days before transplanting. Strong seedlings are planted in heated greenhouses in April, and in unheated film greenhouses or outdoors in May.
Planting density: determinate varieties 5-7 plants per 1 sq.m, while indeterminate varieties should be spaced at 2-4 plants per 1 sq.m.
Tall (indeterminate) tomatoes are usually pruned to 2 stems. The second stem is formed from the strong sucker located just below the first flower cluster. All other suckers must be removed. Lower leaves are also gradually removed to improve ventilation. To speed up ripening, plant growth is often limited (topped), leaving an average of 6-8 clusters per plant. Tall tomatoes must be tied to sturdy horizontal or vertical trellises. Subsequently, the plants require regular watering using warm water. Apply fertilizer 2-3 times during the growing season.
